Thank you for your interest in hurricane relief for Katrina victims. Below you will find several orginazations accepting donations, as well as sources for Volunteer work.

A portion of the proceeds from The Great Deluge book will go to The Historic New Orleans Collection and St. Augustine Church of New Orleans.

The Historic New Orleans Collection is a museum, research center, and publisher dedicated to the study and preservation of the history and culture of New Orleans and the Gulf South region.  In a complex of historic French Quarter buildings at 533 Royal Street, The Collection operates rotating exhibitions, a house museum, a museum shop, and administrative offices. The Williams Research Center at 410 Chartres Street makes available to the public The Collection's holdings, which comprise some 35,000 library items, more than two miles of documents and manuscripts, and approximately 350,000 photographs, prints, drawings, paintings, and other artifacts.

St. Augustine's church in New Orleans is the oldest black church in America, and the first church where freed slaves were allowed to worship. Local hero and civil rights activist Mama D, who coordinated and helped rescue many New Orleanians during the storm as part of the "Soul Patrol" currently runs a soupkitchen in this historic church.

Keith Calhoun and Chandra McCormick Calhoun are amazing Lower Ninth Ward photographers whose work has documented a vibrant and unique way of life. Much of their work was lost in the Hurricane and they’re accepting donations to rebuild their studio.

The Louisiana SPCA evacuated and saved all of the animals in their shelters in an efficient and orderly way and then returned to save animals after the storm.

This church welcomed a busload of evacuees, driven by Charmaine Neville, and provided physical and psychological comfort.

New Orleans Musicians Hurricane Relief Fund was founded by the Jaffe family which owns Preservation Hall and supported/evacuated many music legends during the storm. The relief fund is raising money to help get musicians back on their feet after Katrina.

Walter Anderson Museum of Art exhibits the amazing Gulf Coast art of Walter Anderson (deceased) and is run by his son. The Museum sustained incredible damage during the storm and much of the art was lost. It is located in Ocean Springs, Mississippi.
