Sustainable Gardens

I love the idea of planting native plants and removing thirsty lawns to support wildlife like native bees, butterflies, and birds in all of our landscapes. After reading the book “Nature’s Best Hope” by Douglas Tallamy, my view of our landscape has been forever changed. He inspires us all to plant our own “Homegrown National Park” in our landscapes and yards so that we can have a network of human-and-wildlife friendly green spaces in the heart of our urban neighborhoods and cities.

“Garden as if life depends on it.”

Above is a great graphic from that illustrates how we can change our yards from chemical-laden thirsty lawns to become an oasis of life.
