In 2022, the FREE Denver Native Plant Swap<\/strong> was held at EarthLinks at 2746 W. 13th Avenue in Denver, Colorado on Sunday, June 12, 2022. <\/strong>
We had a great turnout with nearly 200 people and thousands of native plant seedlings given away and swapped. Here’s some more info on the swap:

Why are these native plants swaps free?<\/strong>
The swap is to educate and share with people so they can plant more native plants. Not only do native plants cut down water use substaintially, they also help sustain the ecosystem \u2013 so you’ll see more birds, pollinators, and all wildlife thrive in your own backyard. By the way, go to the library and checkout “Nature’s Best Hope<\/strong>” by Douglas Tallamy \u2013 it will inspire you to plant even just one native plant in your garden to start. Pretty soon, you’ll be hooked. Native plants thrive here in Denver, because they have deep roots and dry & cold tolerance to withstand our harsh weather here in our semi-arid, high-desert climate. Instead of struggling with needy turf grass, there is a wide variety of native grasses, a rainbow of flowers, and wonderful shrubs and trees that will create an oasis of life in your landscape. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bringing plants or seeds to these swaps is encouraged but not necessary to participate. <\/strong>Our main goal is to educate our Metro Denver communities, and to encourage the growing of native, locally sourced, pollinator friendly species to promote sustainable landscaping practices in the parcels our communities steward.
