{"id":24,"date":"2008-09-05T11:39:24","date_gmt":"2008-09-05T19:39:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ijdesign.com\/blog\/?p=24"},"modified":"2008-09-05T11:52:03","modified_gmt":"2008-09-05T19:52:03","slug":"company-donates-solar-electric-system-to-boulder-library","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ijdesign.com\/blog\/company-donates-solar-electric-system-to-boulder-library\/","title":{"rendered":"Solar Electric System Donated to Boulder Library"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Source: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bellaenergy.com\/ProjectOfTheMonth\">www.bellaenergy.com\/ProjectOfTheMonth<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Bella Energy has donated a 10 kilowatt solar electric system to the City of Boulder for the George Reynolds Branch Library, 3595 Table Mesa Drive, valued at $35,000 after rebate.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"BE.Project_reynolds_lg.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>The 10 kilowatt system:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Provides 15,000 kilowatts hours of electric power, enough energy to drive a car once around the earth at the equator.<br \/>\n\u2022  Covers about 30% of the library\u2019s annual energy needs.<br \/>\n\u2022 Saves the City $1,500 per year at 10 cents a kilowatt.<br \/>\n\u2022 Fixes electricity cost for the 30-year lifespan of the system, years in which the cost of electricity is predicted to increase at 3.5% a year.<br \/>\n\u2022 Prevents the burning of 150,000 pounds of coal.<br \/>\n\u2022 Reduces Boulder\u2019s carbon dioxide emissions annually by 12 tons: that\u2019s 2 male African elephants.<\/p>\n<p>The City\u2019s goal is also to educate the community about the benefits of renewable energy. The Reynolds Branch Library in south Boulder is ideally located on two busy roads (Table Mesa and Broadway) with a south-facing roof structure,which is, clearly visible from the road.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally the library will have a Fat Spaniel computer based monitoring system with energy production and consumption data available to the public over the internet. Library employees can use the monitoring system\u2019s information to change their energy consumption behaviors because they can see when and how much energy they use.
