Here’s an invention idea – why don’t digital camera manufacturers use the wasted front space on cameras to add a solar panel for charging? This would work the same as the solar calculators (that have been around since the beginning of time, it seems). There are plenty of solar chargers rising in the market, but instead of having to deal with an extra charger and cords, why not put the panels directly on the camera’s themselves? So that way, next time you’re on a boat taking photos… or camping in the mountains and your camera battery get’s low, you can just set it in the sun for a bit until you get some charge back. Genius.
For now, we’ll have to settle for chargers that you attach to your camera – below you’ll find a few popular solar chargers that are available. With these solar chargers, they say with just 1 hour of sunshine, your phone can be charged for 20 minutes of talk time or 50 minutes of MP3 music – but I’m not sure how many photos you could take with a camera – let me know how they work for you! The Solio Magnesium edition charger actually stores charge, so you can charge it on your car’s dashboard and then carry it with you for charges (even if you don’t have sun). And, you can even plug in into the wall if necessary and use power off the grid – so this can be your central charger.
